Color Throwdown Challenge

I found this great little blog that has a color challenge.  The blog is called The Color Throwdown and since I enjoy anything that helps spark my creative juice (which flow rarely and slowly), I decided to take the challenge this week.  The colors intrigued me.  Here is the challenge--nice colors:

I tried to stay true to the color scheem which looked to me to be lots of white, then mostly the orange color, a bit of yellow and a pop of magenta and green.  While it's not my very favorite card, it's growing on me from last night when I made it.  I used Raspberry, a color that Close To My Heart retired about 7 years ago (right after I became a consultant) but it's still one of favorite colors fits the bid for the color challenge!

And here is a little better look at the dimensional elements:

Papers:  White Daisy, Raspberry(retired) Cardstocks
Stamps: D1470 Dreams Come True; C1494 Card Word Puzzle; D1436 The Present
Ink:  Sunset, Sunflower, Juniper, Raspberry(retired) Exclusive Inks
Embellishments: z1338 Sunset Mini Medley; z1336 Pearl Adhesive Gems; z1701Neutral Assortment Baker's Twine

I do love these colors!  They just look so cheery and I think this makes the perfect get well card.

Dotty For You - Another Birthday!

As I said earlier this month, May is the month of Birthdays. One of my friends and stamping buddies just had a birthday.  I just love how neat the Dotty For You papers coordinate!  This came together so quickly and easily!

I just love how this all coordinates so beautifully!  Here is a snapshot of the inside of the card. This is the sketch I used for this card:
I never get to see enough of the innards of people's cards so I'm still working at the perfect innards.  There should be an innards contest.  Would that be interesting.  OK, I digress....

Papers: Dotty For You papers; Colonial White, Grey Wool Cardstocks
Stamps: C1494 Card Word Puzzle;
Ink: Lagoon, Sweet Leaf, Grey Wool Exclusive Inks
Embellishments: Lagoon Mini-Medley Accent Collection; z1709 Just Blooms Paper Shapes

Wishing my friend Shelley a Happy Birthday!  Happy Stamping....

My Greatest Nightmare

I can’t believe I deleted my blog “Life is Like a Bowl of Stamps” which I’ve been blogging on for over three years! When I got my DROID phone at work, it apparently required a gmail account in order to work. Well, when that account was created, it hijacked my blogger blogs, my YouTube subscriptions and anything else Google could extend its reaches. Something I did not even see coming.

So, any email that I used to get regarding my blog and comments, my YouTube subscriptions, etc. was no long going to my personal email. It was going to an account that was used for work so that I could use a smart phone. Well this morning when I got up, I was going to put an end to that. I was going to delete the account so all my old accounts would return to their pre-DROID status and return to my personal email associations.

Needless to say, that did not happen. Instead, Google just deleted the blog, my subscription associations and everything that was associated to the Google account instead of reverting back to the original account that all of these accounts were started with. I still can’t believe it. I’ve made a request to have them restored; however, I have a good feeling that probably won’t happen because of the details you have to remember like when you first opened your gmail account, your blogger account, your YouTube account, etc. Who keeps those records?

So, instead, I decided I would take a Mulligan and start over. It gives me an opportunity to redefine what I disliked and keep what I like. I have some definite ideas on that.

Well, I hope your day has been set aside for God, family and friends and you make the most of this wonderful day set aside just for you!

May Is the Month for Birthdays!

It has been a long time since I've done a Mojo Monday so when I had to make my dear Son In Law (SIL) a birthday card I decided to start with this week's Mojo Monday sketch. Here is this week's sketch:

And, because the card is for my dear SIL, I decided to use the Victory papers. I just love that kit and I still can't help creating cards with it!

I tried to capture some of the dimension of this card. It is one that I would call a bulky card and would never attempt to send through the mail unless it was in a padded envelope.

Papers: Victory WOTG papers; Chocolate, Honey, and Colonial White cardstock
Stamps: D1410 4 My Friend; Noteworthy Background (retired) Stamp Sets
Ink: Chocolate, Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink
Embellishments: z1706 Durables Studs (Square & Round); z1701 Neutral Assortment Baker's Twine

Hope your days are full of friends and family!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is the day we honor motherhood and the positive influence of a mother's love. The most perfect and beautiful of God's creatures on Earth was a mother (Mary) who brought to us her perfect Son. So in honoring mother's everywhere I wish you all the most perfect Mother's Day.

I have two mothers in particular that I honor today, my daughter Sarah who is the mother of my two year old granddaughter Zoe, and my daughter-in-law Amanda, who is the mother of my grandchildren Hannah 10, Mikayla 7, and Xander 2. How blessed we all are to have you both!

This is the Mother's Day card I made fashioned from a card made by Allisa Chilton, a very talented CTMH Consultant. When I saw this paper from the "Dotty For You" special paper pack I thought "what a dull paper in such a splendidly vibrant paper pack." After seeing Allisa's beautiful card I fell in love with this paper! The rose is made from 4 embossed flowers cut and layered together. The tulips were my present.

A closer look at the layering, next:

Papers: Dotty For You papers; White Daisy, Grey Wool Cardstocks
Stamps: C1494 Card Word Puzzle; D1283 Say It In Style (Retired)
Ink: Grey Wool Exclusive Inks
Embellishments: z1707 Bitty Opaques Pearl Adhesive Gems; z1336 Cream Opaques Adhesive Gems; z1732 Bulk Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon

Happy Mother's Day everyone. I hope you all were able to share your day with friends and family!

Happy Birthday Son!

My son Ian had a birthday today! It seems like only a short while ago he was in high school and here he is a father of three beautiful children and turned 31 today! It was fun because we always get the family together for events like this even if only to have cake and icecream.

So, since he was gracious enough to have a birthday so I could make a card, I thought I'd show you it. (Masculine cards are always such a challenge anyway)! The card layout is from the WISHES book called "Delightful Dots" for a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" (Standard size card).

Papers: Victory WOTG papers; Colonial White, Kraft, Olive Card stocks
Stamps: C1497 Pure Adventure; D1410 4 My Friend
Ink: Cocoa, New England Ivy Exclusive Inks
Embellishments: z1706 Durables Studs (Round); z1701 Neutral Assortment Baker's Twine

I hope your next event will involve lots of friends and family. Wish you many blessings this day!
